Overall, the site comprises an area of approximately 290 acres of low-quality farmland, which will contain solar panels, battery storage, ancillary infrastructure, planting, biodiversity improvement areas, and internal farm tracks.
When operational, the solar farm will generate a considerable amount of clean, renewable energy to support the UK’s drive toward decarbonisation. Additionally, through battery storage, the site will be able to export clean electricity day and night, helping to balance the supply to the grid.
The development will generate enough electricity to power to the equivalent of over 26,300 homes per annum, and save over 1,500,000 tonnes of CO2 compared with generation from fossil fuels.
JBM will plant/enhance over 3.5km of hedgerow/trees, as well as over 11 acres of wildflower meadow, along with an outdoor classroom area. Other features include insect hotels, log piles, bird boxes, and beehives.
