Fraddon Solar Farm

Unlocking enough clean domestic energy to meet the equivalent annual needs of over 19,000 UK homes

The Need For Solar

The UK has made a legally binding commitment to achieve a net zero fully decarbonised power system by 2035. This can only be achieved with the adoption and roll-out of reliable, affordable, clean energy sources such as solar.

Cornwall Council declared a climate emergency in 2019 and published it’s Climate Change Action Plan and set a target for the District to lead the way and become carbon neutral by 2030. Solar farms, such as Fraddon Solar Farm, will make a meaningful contribution to the local, and national, climate commitments.

Our Proposals

  • Fraddon Solar Farm would be located immediately south of Fraddon substation, approximately 350m south of Penhale, 1.5km east of Summercourt, and 2km southwest of Indian Queens, in the St. Dennis and St. Enoder district of Cornwall.
  • The planned solar farm will generate 68GWh of electricity per year.
  • This would provide the equivalent energy needs of over 19,000 UK homes and CO2 savings of over 1,000,000 tonnes which equates to taking c.19,000 cars off Cornwall roads.
  • We are also planning to install batteries to store electricity which can be fed back into the local energy network to help balance the grid at times of high demand.
  • As part of our public consultation, we held an in-person consultation event on Wed 7th December from 2pm – 7pm @ Fraddon Village Hall, Fraddon, TR9 6NT. The consultation period has closed, and we will now take some time to process feedback from members of the public, councillors, and other interested groups before finalising our planning application.
